As multiple media outlets have reported over the past several days, future Notre Dame offensive lineman Matt James suffered a tragic accident that resulted in his death. By all accounts, Matt was a fine student, person and friend, and his contributions to the Notre Dame family will be missed.

It is times like these that force Irish football to the background and bring forth the spiritual tones of Our Lady’s university. The thoughts and prayers of the Clashmore Mike staff go out to the James family as well as the Cincinnati and St. Xavier communities.

We contacted the university to get details on donating in Matt’s memory. If you would like to do so, please go here and fill out the form. Under “Options” select that you are making a memorial gift and, in the space provided below, write, “In honor of Matt James (Jerry and Peggy James).”

Please include Matt and his parents’ names with your donation.

The university will hold whatever contributions are donated in Matt’s name in a temporary fund and contact his parents regarding disbursal after an appropriate time has passed.
